Internet Marketing Tips - What is a fanpage?

Last week, we touched on the proper ways for you to show your support for a friend, product, business or cause that you’re passionate about by ‘becoming a fan. With the advent of Facebook fanpages, there are a number of advantages in using a fanpage in conjunction with a standard profile on Facebook. This week’s tip is to share with you a few of the advantages to using a Facebook fanpage.

Advantages of using a fanpage:
  • Add content auromatically!
    • Do you maintain your own blog? Integrate it into a fanpage to keep content fresh by using your RSS feed from your website!
  • Promote events
    • If you've got a kick-off meeting or follow-up scheduled, promote it to all of your fans through your fanpage! Each fan will then be notified about new events with just one click -- saving you time in the process!
  • Share your business!
    • Rather than bombarding your friends with message after message, invite them to join your fanpage and support your business!
    • Inviting someone to join your business helps maintain solid relationships with your friends and family.
    • If you promote your business through your standard profile, it could lead to people 'unfriending' you due to excessive business promotion.
    • By creating a fanpage for your business, your friends have 'opted-in' to receive notifications about your business, indicating they want to know what's going on.
  • Customize your fanpage by adding Applications.
  • Interact with fans
    • By creating a fanpage, your biggest fans (your customers), will be able to interact directly with you, the business owner! This helps foster good communication and makes a customer feel valued.
A happy customer is a customer for life!

To help get you started, create your first Facebook fanpage!
