Supplement use on the rise in adults and children

According to the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, supplement use is on the rise for both adults and children in the United States. News released this week indicates that four in 10 U.S. adults and one in nine children use "unconditional medical approaches" such as supplements, natural products, massage and meditation.

According to this news release, the most common category of complementary and alternative medicine was natural products including herbal and other dietary supplements. In adults, fish oil is the most commonly used supplement.
