Besides connecting with friends and family, social networking also helps businesses connect with individuals in ways that never existed. For example, you may have ‘become a fan’ of Market America or another business that you liked at some point or been asked by a colleague to support their own business by ‘becoming a fan’ and sharing it with your network of friends.
Showing your support by setting up a fanpage, group or profile for your business is a great networking tool. Not only does it help you to increase your rank on Google (yes, fanpages get ranked by Google), but you’re also helping to attract customers to your business!
Recently though, we have received a number of emails from people asking how they should list themselves when they want to promote a business or brand. This is important: even on social networking sites, you must properly represent yourself. A misleading page, group, or profile can get you into trouble.
Below are a few examples to help you out. Also note that you can say (Unofficial) for either a group, fanpage or profile.
Incorrect Usage:
- “Market America”
- “Motives® by Loren Ridinger”
- “Motives® by Your Name”
- “Your own business name”
- “Your web portal name” - Indicate the name, not the URL
- “Market America (Unofficial)”
- “Market America (Independent Distributor)”
- “Market America (Independent UnFranchise® Owner)”
- “Motives® by Loren Ridinger (Unofficial)”
- “Motives® by Loren Ridinger (Unofficial group)”
- “Motives® by Loren Ridinger (Independent Distributor)”
If anyone has questions on listing their business on social networking sites through a fanpage,
group or profile, please send an email to internetmarketing@marketamerica.com.
Sincerely,
