GRAS status for Lactospore®

Healthy bacteria, commonly known as probiotics, are extremely important in maintaining digestive health. Lactospore® is a strain of Bacillus coagulans, formerly known as Lactobacillus sporogenes. Lactospore is unique in that the spore allows it to survive unfavorable conditions and then germinate when conditions improve, increasing effectiveness. Adding further evidence of the quality and assurance of Lactospore’s safety for use in food, beverages and supplements, the ingredient was recently awarded GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status and determined to be a shelf-stable probiotic ingredient.
