This morning some exciting new research on vitamin D was featured on the Today Show. A new study reported by the American College of Cardiology indicated that nearly 50% of American adults and 30% of American teens do not consume enough vitamin D. The study also revealed that insufficient vitamin D may increase the risk of heart disease later in life. We know that vitamin D plays an important role in supporting bone health but now it looks like this special vitamin might have a lot more to offer!
So, how can you get more vitamin D?
- Spend some time in the sun
- Increase your consumption of fish as they are often high in vitamin D
- Dietary supplements
