Attending MA Events on a Budget

We know that rising fuel prices and other increasing costs make it hard on all of us to travel but we want to see you all at our events so here are some suggestions to make your travel to Market America Events more economical:
· If flying, book flights early to save on rising fares.
· Most airlines are charging up to $15 per 50lb bag so bring only one and weigh it before you leave the house.
· If possible, coordinate with others traveling from your hometown to carpool or even organize a bus for a large group.
· Share a hotel room with one of your fellow travelers.
· Check with the local Convention and Visitors Bureau for coupons to receive discounts at local restaurants.
· Walk everywhere that you can.
· Buy food and snacks at the grocery store instead of eating out every meal.
· Order a regular coffee instead of a latte or make your own coffee in the hotel room.
· Drink water with meals instead of tea or soda.
· Have someone drop you off at the airport instead of paying for parking.
· Adjust your heating and cooling systems at home to save money and energy while you are not there.
· At International Convention, take advantage of discounted bus transportation to and from the Coliseum- call 800-344-1541 for more info.

Additional Tips that I share with the new Distributors on our Team: (1) Transitions Meals are so easy to pack and most hotel have microwaves in the room or in the lobby that you can heat them up in. Order a case early enough to have them in time for your trip! Transitions Bars make a great, easy portable snack to take to Convention too! (2) Bring your PURE H2O Sports Bottle to Convention with you. You can refill from the water fountain and save a lot on bottled water! (3) Food in the Convention Center is expensive, the lines long, and there is limited seating. Hit the grocery store the night before for bread, sandwich meat, etc. Pack a cooler with sandwiches, etc. and leave it in your car. Go out to your car during the lunchbreak - enjoy an inexpensive lunch and some sunshine! (4) Don't forget to bring your business checkbook/creditcard. There are often Convention Specials that you can take advantage of. In addition, there are booths set up with MA promotional items (shirts, hats, banners, etc.). Purchase these at Convention rather than online to save yourself on shipping. Just make sure you have room in your luggage to get the items home! (5) Make sure to ask for and save EVERY receipt! Your entire trip can be written off as a business expense at tax time! (6) You will be sitting for many hours during the training. Take a walk around the Convention Center or the parking lot after you eat lunch to get your blood pumping and to stretch your muscles. You will be able to retain more of the training if you get the blood pumping again! (7) Make sure to get plenty of rest at night. You will retain more of the training (the reason you are there) if you are well-rested.

A good friend of mine (soon to be a business partner) told me about this tip. When you are flying somewhere and staying with friends/relatives it is cheaper to box up your clothes and ship them parcel post. The airlines are charging around $15/bag and charge $50 if the bag weighs over 05 lbs. I just flew to Atlanta with one bag, medium sized, and it weighed 47 lbs. Whew! After paying $228 round trip, I didn't want to add another $50 to it! My friend has been doing this for years and has never lost her items. If you plan and ship ahead you will save money and not have to wait for your luggage!
